Obituary of Clara I. Cleveland

Warrensburg Clara I. Cleveland, 91, formerly of Prosser Circle, passed away on Saturday evening, July 22, 2006, at the Westmount Health Facility, Queensbury, following a long illness. Mrs. Cleveland was born on February 11, 1915 in Charlotteville, the daughter of the late Rev. Orville and Cora May Henderson Russell. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Paulina Russell and attended a one room school house in North Caldwell. She later graduated from Warrensburg High School class of 1932. Mrs. Cleveland worked for 13 years for US Catheter in Glens Falls. She was a lifelong member of the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and played the organ and piano for services. Clara was an avid gardener, growing her own vegetables and flowers. She was also a devoted cat lover. Recently, Clara donated her beloved vintage Allen organ to the local funeral home. Mrs. Cleveland was married to Frances J. Cleveland. Besides her parents and husband, Clara was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Russell and by her sister, Lois I. Russell, who died on April 2, 1998. Lois and Clara lived together for over 50 years before her passing. She is survived by her grandson, Larry Cleveland of Queensbury; her granddaughter, Carolyn Barber of Burnt Hills; nieces and nephews; Bernard Russell of Bolton Landing, Vera Washburn of Bakers Mills, Joyce Bentley of Ticonderoga and John Russell of Pottersville; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial celebration of Clara’s life will be conducted 2 pm, Tuesday at the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, 250 River St., Warrensburg with Pastor Richard Leonard officiating. There are no calling hours scheduled. Private burial will take place at North Caldwell Cemetery, Lake George.
