Obituary of Patricia J. Monthony

Albany/North River: Patricia J. Monthony, 65, formerly of North River, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 18, 2018 following a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. Born July 27, 1952 in Ticonderoga, she was the daughter of Joyce (Freebern) Monthony of North River and the late Francis Monthony. Following her graduation from Johnsburg Central School in 1970, she enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving her country until her honorable discharge. She went on to further her education at Hudson Valley Community College and earned a degree in Industrial Technology. She applied her knowledge as an employee with Clough Harbour and General Electric, working on many large scale projects. She also became a graphic aide with the Albany County Planning Board. Besides spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed sewing, racquet ball, aerobic dance and many outdoor sports. Patty is predeceased by her father. She is survived by her mother, Joyce Monthony of North River; three brothers, Philip Monthony and his wife, Patricia of Indian Lake, Dale Monthony of North River, and Chris Monthony and his wife, Kim of Minerva; she is also survived by her longtime friend, John Merrill of Albany, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, aunts and one uncle. At Patty’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at a time to be announced in the spring in North River Cemetery.
