Johnsburg:
Andrea McKee, 63, of Johnsburg passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family following a long battle with cancer.
Andi was born in Michigan, but spent most of her childhood in the suburbs of Philadelphia, where she attended Downingtown High School. An avid student of history, journalism, and politics, she moved into the city to attend Temple University. She moved to Johnsburg in 1983, where she remained an active member of the community for the next 35 years.
A self-professed "Database Diva," she was a talented systems administrator known for her computer support company, Networks, which serviced the North Country for years. Later in her career, she moved to a full-time position at Health Management Systems, where she worked as a vital member of their fraud prevention team.
Andi was a pillar of the community, well-known as a tremendous source of energy, love, and compassion who helped shape the lives of everyone around her. She was involved in many charitable efforts, including the Adirondack Outreach Center and afterschool initiatives to promote youth engagement in the community.
An avid hiker, camper, gardener, paddler, swimmer, and traveler, she had a deep connection with the outdoors. Andi spent many years as a whitewater rafting guide, spreading her love of the outdoors to anyone brave enough to climb into her raft.
Anyone who knew her could vouch for what a genuine, fun, charming, and inspiring person she was. She had a profound impact on countless lives, and she will be dearly missed.
Andi is survived by her four sons Christopher, Silas, Travis, and Alistair, her loving mother Irene, her two brothers and four sisters, along with a large extended family and massive network of friends, all of whom love her deeply and cherish her memory.
All are welcome to share in a celebration of her life at the Johnsburg Methodist Church on Saturday, May 12th at 2:00PM.
