Obituary of Gladys M. Ross

Lake George: Gladys M. Ross, 91, formerly of State Rt. 9, passed away, Thursday, December 25, 2008 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Most recently, Gladys had been residing at the Countryside Adult Home in Warrensburg. Born September 23, 1917 in Orwell, VT, she was the daughter of the late Eber and Enda (Labshire) White. Gladys married Charles A. Ross and the couple lived and raised their family in Lake George. Mr. Ross worked for the Town of Lake George while Gladys worked as a chambermaid with the Hammond Motel for 32 years and 12 years with the Woodbine Motel, both in Lake George before retiring. Gladys was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her husband, Charles, who died in 1987, her son, Elwin also predeceased her in 2004. Her brothers, Ralph, Warren, Carl, Gordon, Paul, Zeke, Bobby, Clint and her sisters, Martha, Marion and Ethel have also died before her. Survivors include her son, Max O. Ross and his companion, Mary Gebo of Warrensburg; her brother, Ronald White of East Arlington, VT; her sisters, Joyce Legacy of FL, Shirley Percy of North Bennington, VT, Donna Brown of Rutland, VT; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special niece, Jane Edgerly and her husband, Ed of Hudson Falls. Friends may call on Gladys’ family from 11am-1pm Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 1 pm Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dawn Robbins, Pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George.
