Obituary of Robert B. Hitchcock

Athol: Robert B. Hitchcock, Jr., 64, of Drexel Road, passed peacefully into God’s garden on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 28, 1952 in Glens Falls, he was raised by the late Carson and Myrtle Harrington. Following his graduation from Johnsburg Central School in 1970, Bob served his country honorably in the United States Army. He was employed by NYS DOT for 10 years before shifting to NYS Department of Corrections at Great Meadows Correctional Facility in Comstock, retiring in 1991. A past member of the Wevertown Volunteer Fire Company, Bob was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and travel. He also enjoyed dancing, and collected a group to dance at Basil & Wicks on the weekends; he was a great neighbor and always lent a helping hand. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a sister, Sharon. He is survived by his fiancé, Marylouise Sullivan and her children, Thomas F. Sullivan, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and their children, Nicholas, Mya, Jazz, and Thomas III of VA, Stephanie M. Sullivan and her children, Hunter and Mario of GA, James M. Sullivan of Schuylerville, and Elizabeth C. Sullivan and her son, Xavier of VA; a son, Robert J. Hitchcock and his sons, Wyatt and Tristan; siblings, Bella Lee Reed and her family; foster sister, Sharon Bryant; step-children, Jack Crossman and his wife, Pam, and their children, John and Chelsey, and great-grandson, Keagan, of Chestertown, John M. Crossman of Saratoga and his daughters, Jessica and Samantha, and Jason Sparks of Gainesville, FL. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and his lifelong best buddy, Bill Mosher. Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at 10:30 am, Friday, September 9, 2016 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville. His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone that assisted Bob throughout his illness.
