Warrensburg
Irma S. Coombs, 94, formerly of River St., passed away Wednesday morning, July 19, 2006 at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.
Born on March 12, 1912 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Marshall J. and Mamie (Walsh) Stone.
Irma married, Earl H. Coombs on January 12, 1935, he passed away on February 11, 1987 after 52 years of marriage.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg, where she was a deacon and elder and also served as President of the Ladies Aid Society for several years.
Mrs. Coombs worked for the election boards for many years and also worked for the Hill Corporation in the sales dept.
She was an active member in the Lake George, Warrensburg, Gore Mountain and Thurman Seniors Citizens, all of which she had served in several leadership roles. Irma enjoyed oil painting and was also an avid gardener.
After their retirement, she and her husband enjoyed winters in New Smyrna Beach, FL. and summers at their camp in Thetford Center, Vt.
Irma also enjoyed traveling to Alaska and Hawaii and also visited the National Parks in the west.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Pratt and her husband, Brian, of Troy and Bonnie Somers and her husband, Bruce, of Ballston Spa; granddaughters, Diana Jaworowsky of Albany and Lisa Cesare and her husband, Vincent, of Feura Bush; great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Nicholas Jaworowsky of Albany and Samantha and Ashley Cesare of Feura Bush; nephews, Ronald Tebbutt of Stony Brook and Donald Coombs of Venice, FL.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm, Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, with the Rev. Alan Brokaw of Warrensburg First Presbyterian Church. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory's Garden, Colonie.
Contributions in Irma’s memory may be made to the Warrensburg First Presbyterian Church, Stewart Farrar St., Warrensburg, NY 12885 or to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 6 Automapion Lane, Albany, NY 12205.
The family would like to thank Sue Lackey, Louisa Cameron and Morgan Crandall who helped us care for mom during her last few years.
