Obituary of Daniel L. Cameron

Thurman: Daniel Lee Cameron, Sr., 73, of Mountain Rd., passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at his home, with his loving family by his side. Born July 31, 1940 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late John and Amelia (Bronzene) Cameron. Dan was a lifelong resident of the area. Following his graduation from Warrensburg Central School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Spain, Dan met and eventually married Jaunita Rodriguez, before honorably serving his country in Vietnam. Upon his discharge from active military, he joined the Air National Guard, 109th Stratton Air Base in Scotia; he retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service and was awarded the NYS Military Accomodation Medal. Other than spending time with his family, Dan enjoyed watching NASCAR, and was an Oakland Raiders fan. Besides his parents, Dan was predeceased by a sister, Jackie Cernak. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Juanita Cameron of Thurman; his three sons, John N. Cameron and his wife, Margaret, of Ballston Spa, Frank Cameron of Malta, and Daniel L. Cameron, Jr., and his wife, Diana, of Mayfield; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Vicky Lloyd. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Dan’s request there will be no calling hours of funeral service scheduled.
