God bless Marlene! She was a strong and independant woman who was able to take care of herself despite many challenges, and never wanted to be in a nursing home. She told me many times she looked forward to seeing Ronnie again some day, and that she never wanted to be in a nursing home. I am glad that she now has achieved both goals and is happy where she is. I give great credit to her daughters Talia and Ronda and her many friends and neighbors, as well as Glenda Johnson for helping to keep her at the apartment for so many years. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life and I will forever picture her sitting contentedly in the warm sun in front of her apartment.

I knew Marlene through her husband,Ronnie, who I worked with, in the mill in Corinth, many years ago.She was everything her obituary said. She was a very special lady. May you find comfort, in that they are together, and will always be looking over you from above. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was very sad when I got to work on Monday and learned that Marlene had passed away. It was an honor caring for her, even though at times, I knew she was still suffering despite what we were doing. The night before she passed, I was very busy so another RN offered to help me pass 9 PM meds and she took Marlenes to her room. Marlene refused to take them saying "You're not my nurse, I want my nurse." So I went in and held her hand and we talked for awhile. I decided to let the RN who was helping me pick up the slack because at that point, Marlene was more important to me. I just felt she needed someone to talk to. Marlene took her meds for me saying they weren't doing any good anyway but if I wanted her to take them, she'd take them. It was an honor caring for her and I am glad she is now free.
