Obituary of Charles E. Sherrick

Johnsburg:
Charles E. Sherrick, 63, of South Johnsburg Road, passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born March 20, 1951 in New Lexington, OH, he was the son of the late Cecil E. and Lawatha (Johnson) Sherrick.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Tank Commander, serving one tour in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge following 16 years of service, he became a truck driver with Warner Enterprises and was a proud member of the “Two Million Mile club”, an accomplishment, after 22 years of employment with the company.
He married Donna Allen on October 27, 1982 in Denmark following their trip on the “Bridal Train.”
Charles loved children, he was a great father and grandfather, as well as a husband and provider. He owned an ice cream truck and traveled around to area parades, where he was well known for his homemade cotton candy.
In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his sister, Donna Sherrick.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Donna Sherrick, of Johnsburg; a daughter, Nichole Calvert and her husband, Tim, of Bakers Mills; his sons, Christopher Sherrick and his wife, Erica, of Pardeeville, WI, and Stephen Sherrick of Portage, WI; three grandchildren, Kamron Calvert, and Brogen and Grayson Sherrick; siblings, Michael Sherrick and Judy Taylor, both of OH; and his trusty companion, his dog, Sassy. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Charles’ family from 2 to 4 pm, Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at the Mountain View Community Church, Bakers Mills.
A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation at the church, at 4 pm with Pastor Chris Taylor, officiating.
Spring burial with military honors will take place at 11:00 am, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Charles’ memory to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
