Obituary of Donna L. Hopkins

North Creek: Donna L. Hopkins, 66, of St. Rt. 28N, passed away peacefully, Saturday, November 9, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born December 2, 1946 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Elizabeth (Willey) Greenwood. Donna studied to be a cosmetologist before marrying Kenneth Hopkins, Sr. on July 27, 1968 at St. Luke’s Cathedral in Schenectady. She was full of life, and loved to spend quality time with her family; she cherished her grandchildren, and enjoyed cooking, especially for the Holidays, as well as crocheting, knitting, reading, and researching her genealogy. Donna was a breast cancer survivor who also defeated diabetes in recent years. Besides her parents, Donna was predeceased by her brother, Richard Greenwood, and a sister-in-law, Kathy Greenwood. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Kenneth Hopkins, Sr. of North Creek; three sons, Kenneth Hopkins, Jr. and his wife, Catrina of North Creek, Robert Hopkins and his wife, Crystal of Gloversville, and William Hopkins, also of North Creek; six grandchildren, Brandon, Nathaniel, who was also her best friend, Briana, Joshua, Shannon, and Lauramae; a brother, Mike Greenwood of Palm Bay, FL; and a sister, Jane Cook and her husband, Cliff of Johnstown. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 1 pm, Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Garnet Lake Wesleyan Cemetery, Garnet Lake Rd., Johnsburg.
