Obituary of Frank T. Aleksejczyk

Olmstedville: Frank T. Aleksejczyk, 87, of Rt. 29, passed away, Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek following a long illness. Born January 3, 1921 in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Anthony and Bertha (Morris) Aleksejczyk. Frank grew up and graduated from high school in Hartford, CT. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corp. in 1942 and trained as a pilot. He flew with the Air Force in South America before his honorable discharge in 1945. He was living in Grand Gorge when he met his wife to be, Evelyn Mattice. They were married on September 3, 1949 and settled in Schenectady. Frank was proud to be an Iron Worker by trade and was a member of the International Iron Workers Local 12 in Albany for 50 years. He and his wife moved to the north-country in 2004. Frank was an avid bowler and reader. Besides his parents, his sister, Josephine Gerlich and three brothers, Joseph, William and Adam have all predeceased him. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Aleksejczyk of Olmstedville; his two children, Thomas Aleksejczyk and his wife, Sharon of Minerva, Robert Aleksejczyk of League City, TX; his two grandchildren, Shelby and Evan Aleksejczyk of Newtown, PA; brother, Walter Aleksejczyk of Hartford, CT; several nieces and a nephew. A funeral service to celebrate Frank’s life will be conducted 11 am Saturday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River. Burial will follow in the Minerva Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours scheduled.
