Obituary of Carl Kramar
WARRENSBURG: Frederick “Carl” Kramar, 90 years old, of Warrensburg, NY passed away peacefully at Glens Falls Hospital on November 15, 2024.
Carl was born on August 22, 1934, in Cambridge, NY, to the late Francis and Irene (Darfler) Kramar. He grew up on a farm in Eagle Bridge and attended Cambridge Central School, where he excelled in pole vaulting. After high school, Carl attended college but had to leave when he was drafted by the United States Army. He served honorably in Germany as a tank mechanic.
After his honorable discharge, Carl returned home. It was during this time that Carl met the love of his life, Leona “Lee” Thompson. The two were married on July 1, 1956, and shared 55 wonderful years together until her passing. Carl worked as a truck driver for a propane company. Soon after, he began driving trucks for Coca-Cola, where he worked for the next 35 years until his retirement.
After retiring, Carl couldn’t sit still for long, so he returned to work driving trucks for Lincoln Logs. Carl and Lee dedicated many years to volunteering with the Helping Hands food program, and he also served as a polling place attendant on Election Day for many years. Carl found joy in exploring his computer and, above all, cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Irene Kramar; his beloved wife, Leona “Lee” Kramar; his son, Michael Kramar; his grandsons, Junior Kramar and Scott Kramar; and his brother, Frank (Liz) Kramar.
Left to cherish Carl’s memory are his children: Eleanor (Kenneth) Kimble of Warrensburg, Karl (Melissa) Kramar of Kentucky, James Kramar of Queensbury, and Robert (Dianne) Kramar of Warrensburg; daughter-in-law Annette Kramar along with many beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Carl’s family from 1pm – 2pm, Friday, November 22, 2024 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A memorial service will take place following visitation at 2pm in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Call officiating.
