Obituary of Richard Henry Glode
WEVERTOWN: Richard H. Glode, 59 years young, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2024 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on August 25, 1965, in Springfield, MA to the late Donald Glode and Laurel (Lomax) Glode. He graduated from Johnsburg Central School in 1985 and went on to dedicate 35 years of his career to T.C. Murphy Lumber Company. On April 12, 1991, Richard met the love of his life, Jennifer VanGuilder, at Basil and Wicks in North Creek. Their love story blossomed, and they were married on June 12, 1993, at the North Creek Methodist Church, where they built a life filled with love and companionship.
Richard had a deep passion for woodworking and spent countless hours in his workshop, creating everything from furniture to the very spaces that made his home a haven. His pride and joy were the back deck he built himself, which became a relaxing oasis where he loved to spend time. An avid fan of westerns, he particularly enjoyed watching those starring James Arness and John Wayne. He also cherished listening to old country music and classic rock, often relaxing on his deck as the music played. Richard was a devoted son, husband, father, brother and uncle, with his family at the center of his world. His wife, Jennifer, and their daughter, Mikayla, were his greatest joys. From the moment she was born, Mikayla was his partner in crime, and they shared an unbreakable bond.
Besides his father, Richard is predeceased by his father and mother-n-law George and DeEtta VanGuilder.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Jennifer Glode of Wevertown, and his cherished daughter, Mikayla (Daniel) Glode-Wheeler, also of Wevertown. He is also remembered by his loving mother, Laurel Glode; his sisters, Maria Glode and her husband Ryan Sprague of Wevertown, NY, and Dawn Glode of Dolgeville, NY; and his sisters-in-law, Margie (John) Donohue of North River, NY, Angie VanGuilder of North Creek, NY-who shared the same birthday and year as Richard-and Pam VanGuilder of Jacksonville, FL. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his treasured grand-puppy, Leia.
