Obituary of Louise E. Smith
Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
WARRENSBURG: Louise E. Smith, 98, a resident of Warrensburg, and previously a long-time resident of Hudson Falls, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2024, in the loving and compassionate care of her children.
Born on August 7, 1926, Louise was the daughter of the late Edward and Dorothy Leibfried of Buffalo. Predeceased by her husband, Frank A. Smith, the two married On October 31, 1944, beginning a marriage that would span over 75 years. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Dale M. Smith, her grandson, Kristian M. Lawler, and two brothers, Edward and William Leibfried.
Firm in her belief that she only had children – not “in-laws” - Louise is survived by children Frank & Mary Smith of Buffalo, Louise Smith of Zephyrhills, FL, David & Bonny Smith of Hartford, and Becky Lawler of Warrensburg. Grandchildren include Justin, Shannon, Franklynn, Dustin, Denver, Thomas, Jillian, Jonathan and Krystle, and great-grandchildren Marion, Brandon, Gavin, Addison, Lily, Benjamin and Ethan, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Louise was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Hudson Falls. Together with her husband, she lived a Christian-centered, family life, instilling these values in their children. As her children, we knew what it was to be loved. She was the Mom that each of us, without exception, had a strong, unbreakable bond with. How blessed we all have been to have had her in our lives into our senior years. Mom was always there – through the good times and the not-so- good times. She truly loved us all.
A special thanks to Shannon Swanson, for the years of our “Golden Girls” family.
United again, Frank and Louise will be laid to rest in a joint internment service at the convenience of the family.
