Obituary of George C. Searing

ATHOL: George C. Searing, 77 years old of Athol, NY passed away peacefully at his home on July 17, 2024.
George was born in the Bronx, NY, to the late George C. Searing, Sr. and Agnes (Peebles) Searing. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1965, which is also where he met the love of his life, Wendy Modell. George’s family were founders of Searingtown which later became the town of Albertson on Long Island. He attended New York Institute of Technology at Old Westbury Campus majoring in art for one year. George's professional career revolved around art, working in numerous galleries throughout Long Island where he excelled in sales and showcased his own artwork. George and Wendy married on August 20, 1966, in Port Jefferson, NY, and would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this year.
Over the years, George, Wendy, and their children vacationed in Lake George, developing such a deep love for the North Country that they moved there permanently in 1987. George and Wendy extensively traveled the region, selling George’s art at various shows for many years. Additionally, George worked at the Garnet Hill Lodge ski shop for many years.
Besides his parents, George is predeceased by a brother John Searing.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Wendy Searing; children Paul Searing and Kimberly Dawson; grandchildren Ally and Abriana Bither and Scott and Shannon Searing; sister Georgine (Hutch) Hutchison; brother-in-law William Modell and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
