I remember always wanting to go with Dad when he would visit his buddies. It was fun to be a fly on the wall and watch how they would insult each other as a part of their greeting. After the exchange they would just laugh about it. I would feel like I was watching a comedy show. As I grew older I realized that it was a way for he and his buddies to show admiration and affection towards each other.

Fishing with Dad and Dan near Sargent Pond as a kid. We were moving down a small stream that spilled out of the pond when I came upon an open pool of slow-moving water. I could see several large fish, that I believed to be trout, in the pool and remember an excitement rush over me. I shouted to Dad, and I felt like the race was on with Dan to hook the first trout. Dan and I both had lines in the water quickly, bait in front of the fish, yet they held their position in the pool, almost uninterested. I remember Dad slowly walking up the pool and a big grin immediately coming over his face as he glanced over the water. He just kept the excitement up for a bit even though he knew almost immediately that these were some sort of garbage white fish that we were just going to toss back. He got such a kick out of watching Dan and I take to the same outdoor activities that he loved.

Watching Saturday morning cartoons with Dad really stands out. He would laugh so hard at the Road Runner and Coyote Looney Tunes. I could almost anticipate his laughter coming because I was so familiar with each story line. I would glance over at Dad just prior to one of Wile E. Coyote's traps predictably backfiring, and Dad would burst out laughing at that exact moment. He would be in tears by the time the coyote landed in the bottom of desert canyon in a cloud of dust. His laughter made the cartoons so much more enjoyable.

Golfing together!!! Especially when I pared the one of the hardest holes and then next time tried to throw my golf ball out of frustration and threw it straight in the ground instead. I can still remember him laughing about that!!!

When he cried after I left the year before because we couldn’t find him to say goodbye and I had a flight to catch. Then coming home last time he wouldn’t let me out of his sight! He would follow me around the house and act surprised when he saw me Lol. “There she is… she’s right here” he’d say and reaffirm with Mom… “She’s right, here, she’s ok, she’s a good girl”… heartwarming! And if I left the house he would get Mom and ask, “she’s going to be back right? She’s ok right” Mom always had to keep him from going out the door after me! Lol too cute!!! I made sure we said goodbyes before leaving and I still feel his hugs!!!

36 years ago, when I fell in Love with Lisa; I would have never thought for one instant that marring her would have introduced me to her Father, but more importantly from my Point of View to the Man I came to admire, respect, and learned from. From the beginning for reasons that I could not explain, I called David McNeill “Dad”. And I could not think of a more be fitted name for a man that cared so much for his Family, there was never a doubt in my mind of where his priorities were, as he took great care to ensure his wife and children were always first. I miss him and everyday as I go about my life, I see him everywhere, in his children; grandchildren and great-grandchildren… And in the many things he enjoyed about life. Dave…Dad, May your life in heaven be as fulfilled as your life was on earth.
