JOHNSBURG/GLOVERSVILLE: Spring internment for the late Geraldine Britton, who passed away on January 15, 2024 in Gloversville, NY, will be conducted at 11am, Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Garnet Lake Wesleyan Cemetery, Johnsburg NY.
JOHNSBURG/GLOVERSVILLE: Geraldine Britton, age 91, passed away Monday, January 15, 2024, at the home of her daughter in Gloversville, NY.
She was born August 29th 1932, the daughter of the late daughter of Ashley and Leone Meade. Gerry was proud to be a homemaker and mother of 5 children.
She and her late husband Gene lived in many parts of the United States until his retirement from the Air Force. They then settled on Crane Mountain Road in Johnsburg, NY, where Gerry’s favorite activity was walking the quarter mile down the dirt road to retrieve her daily mail. She had a special love of nature and called it her “Vitamin N”.
She was a member of St. James Church in North Creek, NY, and she volunteered at the Tri-County Nursing Home, assisting the residents to attend Mass.
Gerry was predeceased by husband Gene and siblings Ashley Meade, Edna Belmore, Betty Sayers, Margaret Harrington, and James Meade.
She is survived by her children Glenn (Gail) Britton of Thurman, NY, Barbara (James) Mearns of Gloversville, NY, Michael (Lee) Britton of Newport News, VA, William (Cindy) Britton of Check, VA, and Jeffrey (Donna) Britton of Glens Falls, NY. She is also survived by her sister Marie, now living with her daughter in Broadalbin, NY, brothers Edwin Meade of Glens Falls, NY, and Daniel (Laura) Meade of Hermitage, TN. Also, her special in-laws Angela Meade of Glens Falls, NY, and Myron Otis Harrington of Queensbury, NY. As well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY 12078.
Friends are invited to call on Gerry’s family from 1pm – 3pm, Monday, January 22, 2024, at Alexander Funeral Home, Warrensburg, NY 12885.
A funeral service will be conducted following calling hours at 3pm with Rev. John O’Kane officiating.
Burial will take place at Garnet Lake Wesleyan Cemetery this Spring.
