In memory of the cherished Dr. Gary, whose passion and intellect touched many lives around Brant Lake. His thoughtful approach was truly an embodiment of his kindness. He generously shared his time and expertise with profound patience and compassion, a lasting legacy mirrored by both father, Wright Scidmore, and son. May heartfelt prayers bring solace to the mourning family in this trying moment. It is indeed a deeply sentimental goodbye from Bob & Joan Schulte.

I first met Gary in St. Augustine Beach, Florida. In early 2018. When Gary retired we began a friendship that I will always cherish. Gary and I clicked. He was a gun enthusiasts. The last couple years Gary would take me to the gun range. I thoroughly enjoyed that time we had together target practicing. As the friendship continued Bev, myself, Michelle and Gary would join together for happy hours and dinners at local breweries and restaurants in and around St. Agustine Florida. In 2022 Bev and I stayed with Gary and Michelle at Brant Lake. Gary was the best tour guide, and pontoon boat captain. My memories will never leave me. Gary will always be my best friend forever.

We are so blessed Gary was part of our lives and family. It’s hard to think of our favorite time together, we had so many wonderful adventures boating, hiking, get togethers in New York and Florida. One of our favorites was convincing Gary to go to Disney- all he kept saying all weekend was “this is so cool”. We all had so much fun. He had so much fun.
Our family will all miss you terribly Gary… rest in peace dear friend.

I am so very saddened by the news of Gary's passing. Our families have had many years of history starting at Brant Lake, to PA (from where I also come) and back to Brant Lake again. Those many years of lovely memories were filled with laughter and fun; Gary and I often laughed when reminiscing about our parents' antics and, our having conducted a few of our own at Brant Lake.
As fate would have it- I never drive down his side of the lake- last Wednesday a friend who always does, drove. Gary was in his driveway and we stopped to chat. He was his chipper self and, in those short few moments we laughed as always and made plans to get together before leaving for the season. Whether we spoke often or not, we always picked back up where we had left off; Gary was great at that and our passing years always seemed to disappear.
Gary's memory will live on for so many of us; he will be missed.
We send our deepest, and heartfelt, sympathies to Gary's entire family,
Mary Paladin & Peter Cassidy

Friends, family and community were all shocked upon hearing of Gary's passing. Gary, Michele and Mary Belline were my mentors in North Warren EMS. He was the person who talked me into being an EMT for the squad. He took very good care of my dad Bud Smith when he was very sick, and I and my family will always be grateful for all he did for us. He will always be remembered as an outstanding person in our community, and in Warren County. Our sincere condolences go out to Michele, and Gary's family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.

Probably the last picture I have of Gary. Or of Joe, for that matter. Cherished friends, all. Taken at Amanda's graduation party.

I met Gary when I was a teenager on vacation at Meads Cottages on Brant Lake, NY. Over the years our paths crossed many, many times and for a short amount of that time, he was a member of my immediate family. He was the godfather to my son, Michael. I will cherish all the memories we shared and forever be grateful for him being a part of my life. Gary will always be remembered as a person who cared more about others than he did about himself. I can only hope to live my life the same way he did. I will miss you very much, Gary! Love, JoAnne Scidmore

Gary's selfless personality left a profound impact from our teenage years, when we first met at Meads Cottages on Brant Lake. Our encounters were frequent over the years; his temporary inclusion in my family and godfather role to Michael deepened our connection. The memories we built are priceless treasures I shall forever hold dear. Gary's concern for others surpassed his commitment to personal endeavors - an attribute we should aspire to emulate. His loss is deeply felt and he will be greatly missed.

Thank you for being such a great friend and mentor. I’ll always cherish our times together fixing the apartment that myself and Amy moved into, your phone calls of “What you doing, it’s cocktail hour” or “What you doing, come over we’re going to Martha’s” at 9pm or later. I’m sorry I didn’t make it up this summer, but I’ll always remember our talks, our laughs, our “Booze cruises” on the boat. I’m going to miss you so much, thank you my friend. Fly high and look after us all. ❤️❤️
Love Brandon
