Minerva: Frances D. Paradis, 87, of 14th Road, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born January 22, 1933 in Stamford CT, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Somerville) Davison. She married John Paradis on September 7, 1953 at St. James RC Church in North Creek. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1949 graduate from Johnsburg Central School. Frances furthered her studies at Cornell School of Nursing, obtaining her RN and then to Russell Sage College where she obtained her teaching degree. She began working at Minerva Central School as a school nurse and health teacher where she remained for 32 years until her retirement in 1993. Following her retirement, she was a member of the Minerva School Board from 1998-2004 as well as the New York State School Board Association. In 2005, Frances was awarded the Women of Distinction Award from the Girl Scouts of the Adirondack Council, as well as the Outstanding Citizen of the Year Award in the town of Minerva. She was a longtime EMT Instructor for the Minerva Rescue Squad and member of the Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a member of the Minerva Historical Society. During her free time, she was also a member of the Red Hat Society, a volunteer at the food pantry, and served on the Board of Directors at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 67 years, John Paradis and son, John J. Paradis. She is survived by her children, Chris Paradis and his wife, Denise of Schroon Lake, Patricia Paradis of Altamont, and Andrew Paradis of Conway, SC; daughter-in-law, Cyndi Paradis of SC; grandchildren, Adriane Gonzalez and her husband, Benny, of GA, Samantha Paradis of MA, Andi Paradis of South Glens Falls, Lance Paradis and his wife, Shayna of Queensbury, Christopher Paradis of Galway, Ireland, and Eric Paradis of Lake Clear; great-grandchildren, Madeline Gonzalez and Marshall Paradis; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Frances’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. Her family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jennifer Stratton for the many years of world-class care, Carol Frazier for her continuous care and support, along with Betty LeMay, Kim Dubay, Debbie Fish, Eleanor Whipple, Michelle Lanphear, Paula Taylor, and a special thanks to Tim and Doug, as well as High Peaks Hospice.
