Obituary of Doris Phillips Whitford

Doris (Phillips) Whitford, 87, of Swan Street, died Thursday morning, February 23, 2006, at the Glens Falls Hospital, following a long illness.
She was born on January 10, 1919, in Ticonderoga, daughter of the late William and Luella (Lee) Phillips.
Mrs. Whitford graduated from Ticonderoga High School, Class of 1936, and attended Mildred Elley School of Business, Albany, graduating in 1938. She was employed by Ticonderoga National Bank until her marriage to George Arthur Whitford of Crown Point on January 6, 1944; she was later employed as a bookkeeper with the Warrensburg-Lake George News.
The Whitfords moved to Glens Falls where they resided until 1953, when they settled in Warrensburg.
Doris was a member of the Warrensburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for over 35 years.
She was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, George A. Whitford, on July 3, 1976, and her brother William Lee Philips.
Doris is survived by her three daughters, twins, Janet (Craig) Erickson of Cobleskill and Joyce (Lee) Steele of Orlando, FL and Barbara Whitford of Warrensburg; four grandchildren, Beth, Heather, Timothy (Jane) and Joshua (Vanessa) Steele; and three great-grandsons, Jacob, Brandon and Elijah, all of Orlando, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at The Warrensburg Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Horicon Ave.
Contributions may be made in Doris’s memory to the Warrensburg Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Horicon Ave., Warrensburg, or to the Warrensburg EMS, 3 King St., Warrensburg, NY 12885.
