It's been almost 10 years since I was in regular contact with John on the classical music site I co-owned, but I have thought of him so often in the interim. We were frequently antagonists, but I am greatly saddened at his death. I knew very little about his inner demons, but I thought he was so courageous to return from his secure position in Germany to take care of his mother. Not many men would do that. I will remember him in my prayers and look forward to seeing him one day sitting at the heavenly organ cranking out his favorite Bach, oblivious to those of us who don't like Bach.

May I encourage you to: Talk to God in prayer- (Psalms 55:22). Death is not natural so when one losses a loved one we ask, "Will they live again"? The Bible writer, Job asked the same question. Please read, Job 14:14-15. God is eager to resurrect your loved one who is now sleeping in death. 1 Corinthians 15:26, says that God views death as an enemy. May this be of comfort to you at this time.

I’m so saddened to hear of John’s passing. I came to know John through his work with the Post Star Academic Bowl. He dedicated so much of his time to the students of the area schools and his hometown of Stony Creek as well. God speed, my friend.

Oh John, we will miss you so much. You were braver than you ever gave yourself credit for. Your piercing intellect and sharp sense of humor will be missed by all. I will miss sharing ideas with you.

John was blessed with a wonderful gift- his music. I loved watching him get totally immersed when playing the organ. There is a void in the church now that he is not sitting at the organ.
