Obituary of Stephen J. Peat

Indian Lake:
Stephen J. Peat, 90, formerly of John Rust Road, passed away, Sunday evening, March 9, 2008 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek.
Born June 23, 1917 in Somerville, NJ, he was the son of William and Margaret (Carver) Peat.
Stephen resided in Norwalk, CT before moving to Clifton, NJ in 1948. He also called Cranbury and Vernon, NJ, home before finally retiring to Indian Lake.
Known by his friends as Jim, he served as a hospital apprentice in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge in 1945.
A lace weaver by trade, he retired in 1979 as a warehouse manager for AP Automotive Systems. He was an avid golfer and a sports car enthusiast. One of his fondest memories was soloing in a single engine airplane as a teenager.
He was predeceased by his wife, Lucille in 1993; two sisters: Winifred Hutchins and Alice Kearns; and brother, William Leslie Peat.
Stephen is survived by his three sons: Craig S. Peat of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; Gerald W. Peat of Tampa, FL; and David J. Peat of Scottsdale, AZ.; six grandchildren: Kristian, Kirkland, Adam, Margaret, Rachel, and Sarah Baldo, along with five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call on Stephen’s family from 6-8 pm, Friday evening, March 14, at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Route 28, North River.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, with Father Robert Limpert, Rector with the Adirondack Missions, officiating.
Interment will take place Saturday afternoon at the Riverside Cemetery in Norwalk, CT.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the High Peaks Hospice, 667 Bay Rd., Queensbury, NY 12804.
