Obituary of Grant Carl Wright

Glens Falls: Grant Carl Wright, 93, of Wing Street, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at the Pine Manor in Ballston Spa with his family by his side. Born January 19, 1925 in Hebron, he was the son of the late William and Edna (Ely) Wright. Following his graduation from Granville Central School in 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army for the duration of World War II and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1946. He began working for Imperial Wall Paper which became Hercules Inc., and Ciba Geigy, in Queensbury retiring after 38 years of faithful service. He married Inez Bardin on October 8, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls and started their family living in Kingsbury. Following his retirement in 1981, he relocated to Lake Charles, Louisiana and enjoyed his retirement in the sunny south. Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed giving back to his community as a Scout Master with Boy Scout Troop 57 in Hudson Falls, earning a Wood Badge and the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Hudson Falls and served as Deacon for many years. He liked to fish and hunt, found great joy camping with his family and friends. He enjoyed reading music history and visiting historic sites. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Inez Wright; his siblings, Bill Wright and his wife, Jean, Edna Wood and her husband, Donald, Cora Hoag and her husband, Joseph, his in-law’s, Shirley Goodman and her husband, Chester, Jeanne Wright, Gerald Mattison, and Carleton Sears, as well as his long-time companion, Rosa Comeaux. He is survived by his six children, Carl Wright and his wife, Susan of Moreau, Carol Lovelee , of Minneapolis, MN, Beth Wright of Stuart, FL, Neil Wright and his wife, Kathy of Houston, TX, Susan Davis and her husband, Phillip of Nederland, TX, and Wayne Wright and his wife, Debbie of Glens Falls; grandchildren, Matthew, Daniel, and Lauren Wright, Amanda Lovelee and her husband, Kyle Waites, Kelsey Evans and her husband, James, Bill Wright, Bryon Davis, Valerie Boone and her husband, Daniel, Shannon Lashway, Jessica Missita and her husband, Jeremiah, Tia Ruggiero and her husband, Jamie, Charys Wright, and Rebecca Cram and her husband, James; as well as 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, his siblings, Isaac (Dewey) Wright, Elsie Mattison od Hudson Falls, Audrey Sears of CA; sister-in-law, Ann Coltey and her husband, Floied (Sonny) of Ft. Ann; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Grant’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted at Bay Street Cemetery at a time to be announced in the spring.
