Arlene Todenhagen, 97, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at The Pines at Glens Falls.
Born August 4, 1920 in Port Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Klaes) Shepard.
She was raised in Rye, NY and married Charles Todenhagen on May 26, 1940. Together they started their family, having two children, and relocating to Poestenkill, NY.
Arlene worked as a teacher’s aide at Poestenkill Elementary School for 16 years. Following her retirement, the couple moved to the Glens Falls/Lake George area to be closer to family.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Charles Todenhagen who passed away on November 30, 1999.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Austin of Diamond Point, son, Peter Todenhagen of Lake Worth, FL; three grandchildren, David Burr Austin, Heather Austin Wagemann and Peter Todenhagen, Jr. and eight great-grandchildren.
At Arlene’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be conducted privately in the Hillside Cemetery, Poestenkill.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the C.R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital.
