Obituary of Michael J. Harrington

Warrensburg: Michael J. Harrington, 64, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born August 24, 1951 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Arnold and Naomi (Rhodes) Harrington. Mike graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1969. He married Doreen F. Barton on June 21, 1985, the summer solstice, at the Warren County Fish Hatchery. Mike was employed for NYS Wilton DDSO for over 30 years, where he made many great friends, including Dave Shaw, Roxanne and Pierre Fonda, Lonny and Tammy Mattison, Joann, Mary, Alice, Julie, Kelly, and many more. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed day trips and family vacations to the ocean, as well as camping, and any other outdoor activity where he could be in the company of his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Doreen Harrington of Warrensburg; children, Michelle Ogsbury and her husband, Tim, Randy Harrington and his wife, Kari, Erin Harrington and her fiancé, Jacquie Layman, and Amelia Harrington and her companion, Van Chakalis; three granddaughters, Adriana, Taylor, and Logan; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Kadence; a sister, Donna Wormwood and her husband, Richard; brother-in-law, Mark Barton and his family; aunt, Elvira; niece, Melissa Goucher, along with her two children; and cousins, Butch, Theresa, Debbie, and Rod. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Butters. Friends may call on Mike’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Friday, June 3, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, Friday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Young, officiating. Mike’s family would like to thank Dr. Grubbs, Monique, Rod, Nicole, Walter, Christy, Debbie, and Colleen, and the staff of Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital, for the exceptional care they provided. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Michael’s memory to the CR Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital, 102 Park St., Glens Falls, NY 12801.
