Warrensburg: Joaquin “Joe” Pereira, 86, of Keyes Street, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 25, 2016 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born April 9, 1929 in Fairmont City, IL, he was the son of the late Joaquin and Eliza (Grell) Pereira. Joe honorably served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired airline mechanic, and longtime employee of Pan Am. Besides spending time and traveling with his family and friends, Joe was an avid bird watcher who also enjoyed watching classic western movies, reading, and assembling puzzles. He married Abelina (Jo) Cardoze on August 17, 1996 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church in Warrensburg. Joe was the President of the Warrensburg 50+ club for many years, as well as a member of the Elks and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Pereira, of Warrensburg; children, David Pereira and his wife, Magda, of FL, Corinne Cardoze, Karen Lindstadt and her husband, Keith, and John Cardoze and his wife, Paula; grandchildren, Damian Lindstadt, Dylan Lindstadt and his wife, Alicia, Amanda and Sarah Cardoze, David and Nicholas Pereira; two great-grandchildren, Skylar and Tobias. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends. Friends may call on Joe’s family from 3 to 5 pm, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A memorial Mass to celebrate his life will be celebrated at 11 am, Thursday, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg, with Father Paul Cox, officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Joaquin’s memory to St. Cecilia’s, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885 or North Country Ministries, 3933 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885.
