Obituary of Donald P. Roblee

Warrensburg: Donald P. Roblee, 101, formerly of Ashe Drive, passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Creek. Born June 3, 1912 in North Creek, he was the son of the late Merton and Avis (Phelps) Roblee. Don served his country in the Unites States Air Force during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1945. A lifelong resident of the area, Don was employed locally throughout the years and retired as keeper of the supply shop at Bartons Mine in North River. Don married C. Louise Freebern on August 21, 1949. The couple spent 53 years together before Louise’s passing in 2002. Besides his parents and beloved wife, Don was predeceased by his brothers: Leslie, Lyle, Joe and Merrill Roblee. Don is survived by his sisters-in-law: Lucille Roblee of Rochester; Rea Roblee of Fort Edward; Judy Freebern of Sodom; Justine Freebern of North River; Agnes Villeneuve of Queensbury; and Ann Porter of North Creek; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don had tremendous knowledge of our local history and the generations of people within it. His enlightening conversations will be missed by many. Friends may call on Don’s family from 10 am to 12 pm, Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 12 pm, Monday, at the funeral home with Rev. Stephen Andrews, Pastor of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, North Creek. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a random act of kindness in Donald’s memory.
