Obituary of George W. Sprague

George W. Sprague, III, 64, of Oak St., passed away peacefully Monday, June 17, 2013 at his home, with his loving family by his side.
Born July 13, 1948 in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Elaine (Ackley) Sprague and George Sprague, Jr. of Warrensburg.
Affectionately referred to as Georgie by those that knew and loved him, he was an exceptional New York Yankees fan and loved the Wizard of Oz.
Besides his mother, Elaine, who passed away May 29, 2011, he was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Aileen Sprague, Daisy and Frank Weeks, and Lee Ackley, a brother-in-law, Mack Greenwood, his aunt, Eyvonne Johnson,along with several uncles and cousins.
Other than his father, Georgie is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Greenwood of Stony Creek and Lori Combs and her husband, Scott of Warrensburg; three brothers, Jerry Sprague and his wife, Maureen, Kevin Sprague, and Michael Sprague, all of Warrensburg; his beloved nieces and nephews, Terry Combs and his wife, Laura, Brandon Combs, David and Phillip Greenwood, Courtney and Kristin Sprague; great-nephews, Braley and Konnor Duell, and Landon and Xavier Combs; a great-niece, Avery Combs; He also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, including a special aunt, Louise Hall and uncle John Johnson; close cousin, Joann Dick and several others; as well as many special friends, his 911 culprit, Doni Lynn Smith, and her daughter, Kati Curtis, and close buddies, Brian Keith and Pete Corlew.
Friends may call on Georgie’s family from 6 to 9 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at 10:00 am, Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest alongside his mother.
Pall bearers will be Jerry Sprague, Kevin Sprague, Terry Combs, Brandon Combs, Pete Corlew, Mikey Tennant, and honorary bearers, Scott Combs and Scott Smith.
Georgie’s family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Barb Moehringer of Warren County Public Health Services for her loving care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
