Obituary of Evelyn A. Brokaw

Thurman: Evelyn A. Brokaw, 86 of Dippikill Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 30, 2018 at her home with her loving husband at her side. Born May 1, 1931 in Staten Island, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Anna (Daley) Brower. Evelyn lived a giving life to her sons, her husband, her church choir, and her God, who welcomed her home which ended her pain, suffering and confusion. She and her husband were sitting together in their home when she went to be with God. During her life she worked for Liberty Mutual in NYC, and later for Phelps Dodge Corp. in Suffern near her home in Ramsey NJ. She married the Rev. Alan Brokaw in 1955 and traveled with him to pastoral beginnings in Cambridge and currently in the Community Chapel of Glens Falls. Besides her beloved husband of 63 years, Alan, she is survived by her sons, Keith and his wife Lesley, from Washingtonville NY and Kevin and his fiancée, Aimee from Winterport ME; Evelyn’s grandchildren include Keith Jr., Eric, Laura, Jason, Timothy, and Kira. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Kaden and Emma. There was closeness too with her nephew Brian Brokaw, his wife and four children. Evie will be missed greatly by her friends in the FPC of Warrensburg, and in the chapel and especially by Alan. Friends may call on Evelyn’s family from 2-4 pm, Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc. 3809 Main St Warrensburg NY. A funeral service to celebrate Evelyn’s life will be conducted 1 PM Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Ed Robbins, Chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
