Obituary of Barbara D. Baker

Warrensburg:
Barbara D. (Hall) Baker, 75, of St. Rte. 418, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her home.
Born September 8, 1939 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Meade H. and Grace (Stone) Hall.
She was a lifelong resident of the area.
Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed attending Sunday services at the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, as well as jigsaw puzzles.
Barb was an avid reader and over the years, she amassed an impressive collection of vintage paperbacks, specifically romance novels.
Barb was employed by several area motels, where she was a head housekeeper, at the Surfside Motel, O’Sullivans Motel, and most recently for the Econo Lodge in Queensbury.
In addition to her parents, Barb was predeceased by her beloved husband, Dempsey A. Baker, a son, Joseph Baker, grandson, Candy Millington, and two great-grandsons, Roger Millington and Kale Baker.
She is survived by her children, Rose Germain of Saratoga Springs, Debra Penna and her husband, Robert, of Thurman, and Kevin Baker and his wife, Michelle, of Hickory, NC; her siblings, Alice Ackary, Alan Hall, Robert J. Hall, Betty Peck, and David Hall and his wife, Kathy. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her beloved dog Skippy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call on Barb’s family from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 8 pm, at the funeral home, with Jeffrey Grants, Pastor of the Kenyontown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Spring burial will take place at 10 am, Thursday, May 14, 2015 in Reynolds Cemetery, S. Johnsburg Road, Thurman.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Barbara’s memory to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.
