Obituary of Kathleen R. Wood

Lake George: Kathleen Marchinkoski Wood, 59, of Lake George, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 with her devoted husband Daniel Wood by her side. Kathy, courageously and with remarkably good humor, fought a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer, a disease discovered while she was recovering from successful open heart surgery. Kathy was born on January 22, 1959 in Proctor, VT, the daughter of Rose and Edward Marchinkoski. Kathy and Dan, who recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary, spent their summers enjoying their many friends at Diamond Point Beach, on the shores of Lake George. Kathy loved the lake and always anxiously waited the start of summer to visit with friends from nearby and faraway. She was a “fixture” at the town beach. When she was not working, Kathy loved to garden and cared for dozens of stray cats and kittens. She was a graduate of West Rutland High School and Castleton University, class of 1977 where she majored in psychology and social work. From 1982 to 1996 she served as a personal banker with Chittenden Bank. In 1996 she joined Glens Falls National Bank, later to become TD Bank where she became a branch office supervisor. From 2006 to her retirement in 2017 she was employed as a customer service specialist and trainer with Travelers Insurance Co. in Glens Falls. She is predeceased by her mother Rose and father Edward and is survived by her two sisters Marilyn Coloutti and her husband Michael, of West Rutland, VT; Janie Jones and her husband Charles, of Poultney, VT; an uncle, Edward Jurnak, of Poultney, VT; nephews Darren Coloutti, Kevin and Jeffrey Jones; stepson Adriel Wood and his wife, Lauren and stepgrandson Nelson Wood of Folsom, CA; brother-in law Ted Wood and his wife Ming, of Saratoga Springs, NY; sister-in-law Darlene McMahon and nephews Gavin and Colin McMahon, of Queensbury, NY; sister-in-law Jennifer Wood, and niece Ella Wood-Doherty of Valley Cottage, NY; mother-in-law Diane Wood, of Lake George, NY and father-in-law Ray Wood, of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Friends may call on Kathy’s family from 10 am to 12 noon, Saturday, June 2nd at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at noon with Fr. Joseph Busch officiating. Burial will follow in Chester Rural Cemetery, Chestertown.
