Obituary of Leo A. Barrett

Warrensburg: Leo A. Barrett, Sr., 64, of Marion Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, August 29, 2014, at his home, following a long illness. Born February 11, 1950 in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Earl and Geraldine (Frasier) Barrett. Leo worked as a mechanic for Sunoco for many years; he had a wealth of mechanical knowledge and was well known for his ability to fix anything. He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as playing guitar, country music, playing cards, and fishing. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Marsha, siblings, Wanda Barrett, Earl “Pete” Barrett Jr., Suzanne Williams, Clark Barrett, and Wendy Prosser. He is survived by two sons, Leo A. (Sandra Irvin) Barrett Jr. of Warrensburg, and David Barrett and his companion, Candy, of Kansas; one daughter, Mary (Timothy) Frasier of Lake George; four sisters, Anna VanGuilder and her husband, Donald, of Warrensburg, Goldia Whiting and her husband, Al, of Glens Falls, Betty Ostrander and her husband, Mark, of Glens Falls, and Kim McEachron and her husband, John, of Saratoga Springs; seven brothers, Gary Barrett and his wife, Marytene, of Warrensburg, Michael Barrett and his wife, Gail, of Hudson Falls, Alden Barrett of Hudson Falls, James Barrett and his companion, Kathi, of Edgewater Fla., Tony Barrett and his wife, Kim, of Gansevoort, Doug Barrett and his companion, Karen, of Geneva, and Mark Barrett and his wife, Michelle, of South Glens Falls; seven grandchildren, Duke, Dalton, Ryan, Chadd, Shayla, Zach, Tyler, and Zachary; one great-granddaughter, Jasmine, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11 am, Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the Darrowsville Cemetery, Chestertown.
