Sugarloaf, PA: Rose C. Gecewicz, 93, formerly of Sugarloaf, passed away peacefully, Friday, October 26, 2018 at Countryside Adult Home in Warrensburg, NY with her loving family by her side. Born May 16, 1925 in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sadie (Hyde) Deeb. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edmund of 68 years, her dear brothers Fred, Frank, George, Peter, and loving sisters Mary Edmondson, Sarah, and Ann Zunski. Rose is survived by her sisters Sadie Holloman, Catherine Plesce, Theresa Tier, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Loretta LeBar and her son-in-law Robert of Lake George, NY. Rose lived her final years with Loretta and Bob where she made many new friends. Her friends in Lake George made her part of their families and she enjoyed many holidays, dinners, and movie nights. While living at Countryside, as always, she made many new friends, participated in resident council, and her caregivers made each day one of quality and full of love for her. Rose had frequent visits with her dog and other furry visitors while living at Countryside. Rose worked out of the home in the garment industry. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and sharing her table with family and friends. Rose cared for her husband during his extended illness and while he was living in the nursing home she would visit and advocate on behalf of other residents in need. Rose was devoted to the Rosary and shared her faith with an open heart and mind. While in Lake George, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church and while living in Sugarloaf she was a member of Good Shepherd Church for over 65 years, where her remains will be buried next to her husband and her sister Ann. At Rose’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held in the spring to witness the beauty of nature that she loved so dearly with a mass at Good Shepherd Church in Drums and a luncheon to follow with her favorite foods and music. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Hazleton Animal Shelter at 101 N Poplar St, Hazleton, PA 18201. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guest book and condolences.
