Bolton Landing:
Paul J. Gollhofer, 81, of Beckers Drive, passed away peacefully, Monday, August 20, 2018 at The Warren Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.
Born November 29, 1936 in Brooklyn NY, he was the son of the late Paul Sr., and Anna (Dul) Gollhofer. He spent his childhood at 9 Haab Ave in Babylon NY, served with US Army Signal Core during the Korean conflict, and met his wife Ruth “Lynn” while attending night courses at Farmingdale Community College.
A Bell System Pioneer, Paul as member of upper management advanced communication technology with three patents, lead crews of technicians and installers for over 35 years. In 1992 he retired with his wife Lynn to their lake home in Bolton Landing where he served as a member of the Volunteer Fire Department, assisted the Sagamore Hotel Security team, served 12 years as a member of the Warren County Zoning Board, an active member of the Greater Glens Falls Senior Center and was Sargent of Arms with the Local American Legion Post.
The early morning of August 20th, 2018 Paul reunited with his beloved wife, Ruth “Lynn” Gollhofer, and son, Richard J. Gollhofer or “Rook” as he was affectionately known by his friends at the Bolton Fire Department, who went to the Lord at the age of 33.
He is survived by his oldest son John P. Gollhofer, daughter in law Lorie and two beloved grandchildren Kirsten and Max of Bolton Landing.
Friends may call on Paul’s family from 3 to 6 pm, Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm, at the funeral home.
Rite of Committal will take place in the Bolton Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Legion Post #961 or the Greater Glens Falls Senior Center.
