Obituary of Deborah L. Foos
Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
North Creek:
Deborah L. (LaPell) Foos, 55, of Milton Avenue left behind her earthly body to join her husband and father, early Sunday morning, July 14, 2013 at her home, with her only daughter, Krista, at her side and her mother, who was there for both, her first and last breaths.
Born November 7, 1957 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Olga (O’Donnell) LaPell of North Creek and the late James LaPell.
A lifelong resident of the area, Debbie was a graduate of Johnsburg Central School, Class of 1975.
She married her soul mate, Franklin J. Foos on April 2, 1983 in North Creek whom she selflessly cared for throughout his 25 year illness; he lost his fight against life on August 29, 2011.
Childhood friends may remember Debbie as an imaginative tom boy, who would direct plays with neighborhood kids to show the townspeople. Musically inclined, she enjoyed singing and was passionate about playing the guitar in which she was self taught. Debbie was also very artistically gifted, as she loved to knit and crochet; warming friends and family with her sweaters, afghans, and socks, she annually donated countless mittens to the North Country Ministry, Baby’s Place, another example of her generosity. Her baked goods will never be duplicated, as they were extraordinary and skillfully taught to her by her grandmother.
Debbie was a generous soul, who would have given anything in her power to those in need. She found great gratitude in creating a memorable Christmas for area children whose families could not provide such; she would do so proudly and anonymously.
As a mother herself, she would work any job necessary to care for her family, finally settling into the North Creek Laundry for nearly 15 years where she enjoyed chatting and getting to know their customers on a personal level.
Besides her mother, Olga, Debbie is survived by her daughter, who she adored and loved without conditions, Krista L. Foos of North Creek; a grandson, her pride and joy that she lived each day for, Brian Hewitt of North Creek; 5 siblings, Dianne (Rusty) Batchelor of Fort Meyers, FL, Donna (Kris) Fuller of Kingsbury, Cindy (John Schrade) LaPell of North Creek, Jeffery (Tina) LaPell of Queensbury, and Robert (Mary Jo) LaPell of Stephentown; She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
At Debbie’s request, there will be no public calling hours held.
Burial will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Deborah’s memory to the North Country Hardship Fund, P.O. Box 101, North River, NY 12856 or to a college fund set up for her grandson, Brian in c/o Olga LaPell at any Community Bank branch.
For those who showed love, support, and friendship through this difficult time, Krista and family thank you.
