Gerald E. “Butch” Annis, 59, of Newton St., passed away after being stricken, Thursday, March 27, 2014, on Lake George while doing what he loved, ice fishing.
Born November 5, 1954 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Erwin and Evelyn (Peabody) Annis.
Affectionately known as Butch, he was a lifelong resident of the area, and a 1972 graduate of Warrensburg Central School.
He married Kathryn Robinson on June 18, 1975 at the Free Methodist Church in Warrensburg.
Butch was a longtime dedicated employee with B&B Fuels where he remained for over 30 years.
Besides spending time with his friends and family, he was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting with his good friends at the Turkey Hill Club, hiking, fishing, camping, and could frequently be spotted walking the streets of Warrensburg with his trusted companion, Mya. He also enjoyed watching and supporting his grandson’s sporting events.
He will be remembered for his infectious smile, quick wit and kind heart.
Besides his parents, Butch was predeceased by his uncle, Donald Annis, and a niece, Beth Converse.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Katie Annis; a daughter, Heather Annis; and a grandson, Cole Lanfear, all of Warrensburg; his siblings, Laurie Converse and her companion, Bernard Russell, of Warrensburg, Carol Mesh and her husband, Bruce, of Ballston Lake, Ronald Annis and his wife, Monika, of Sweden, and Kelly Annis of Lake George; and his grand-dog, Mya. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his special friends, including Slugger and Carl.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Butch’s life will be conducted at 5 pm, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, 250 River St., Warrensburg with Rev. Nancy Barrow, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Butch’s memory to the Warrensburg Free Methodist Church, 250 River Street, Warrensburg, NY 12885.
