Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diamond Point:
On April 27, 2014 Dorothy H. Semon went into the arms of her Lord and Savior. Dorothy’s faith that she would meet her husband in heaven never wavered.
Born April 20, 1931 in Brooklyn Dorothy was the daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Shea) Vetter.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Joseph Semon, siblings – Thomasine Paul, Arlene Melzer and Catherine Burrowes, an infant son Paul, her grandson Joseph Kern, niece Barbara Melzer, nephew Thomas Paul and her beloved Aunt Nell (Helena Shea)
On December 15, 1951 she married Joseph Semon. They spent 61 years enjoying each other’s company until Joseph passed away September 2013. They lived on Long Island until 1969 when they moved their family to the North Country.
Dorothy had several loves in life besides the Lord, all of them were in the service of others. Wife, Mother, Nurse, Church School teacher , 4 – H Leader and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She enjoyed everything she did and she always did the best she could for each.
Dorothy attended the Kings County Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1952. She loved the art of Nursing and how she could change a person’s life by giving of herself.
Dorothy had 9 children and is survived by Mark, Linda and her husband Scott (Kern), Janine and her husband Victor (Gennett), Joseph, Eric, Kurt and his wife Margaret (Mahar), Thomas, and Martin and his wife Stephanie (Hamilton). She was grandmother to 18 grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by several nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
Her legacy to her children, love, kindness, patience and the love of God has supported them through their lives. It goes without saying that there will be a void in the lives of all she has touched. She will be so missed.
Thank you to all those who supported our mother physically and or spiritually. Special thanks to the Bolton Landing Health Center- Dr. Smead, Stacey- you are great, Rite Aid Pharmacy techs and pharmacists- your thoughts of her and kind messages touched her heart, Mark DiPasquale- family friend and loving care giver, St. Cecilia’s Friends, and last , but in no way least High Peaks Hospice- words cannot describe your strengths and kindnesses. All of you contributed to our mother’s final days on earth being as peaceful as possible. Thank you.
