Obituary of Roger E. Langworthy

Roger E. Langworthy, 76, of Milton Avenue, passed away peacefully, Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Born April 3, 1940 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Marjorie (Lanfear) Langworthy.
Following his graduation from Warrensburg Central School in 1958, he attended Mohawk Valley Technical Institute. He continued his education through the former Glens Falls Insurance Co., and later, Continental Insurance in Glens Falls as well as Columbus, OH, where he remained for his entire career, working his way up through the ranks and retiring as Commercial Underwriting Manager.
Roger was very community minded, and was an active member of the Jaycees, receiving the Outstanding Service Award in 1968 and was honored in “Outstanding Young Men of America” in 1970. He volunteered his spare time coaching pee wee football in Westerville, OH.
He and his family relocated back to his hometown of Warrensburg in 1972, serving his community on the Planning Board, as well as the Warrensburg School Board, and offered his participation and support for his children’s many activities.
Roger was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed fly fishing and hunting at his camp in Indian Lake.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Mark Langworthy, his brother, Donald Langworthy, and his sister, Kitty Perry.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Dot Langworthy of Warrensburg; his two daughters, Mechelle Roskiewicz and her husband, James of Warrensburg, Melisse Robinson and her husband, Michael of Glens Falls; his grandchildren: Jamie McNeill and his wife, Alysia of Georgia, VT, Marri and Maggie Robinson of NYC, Maddi Robinson of Glens Falls, and Haylie Langworthy of OK; his siblings, Paul Langworthy of Warrensburg, Stan Langworthy of Glens Falls, Carol Fuller of Warrensburg and Lynn Monroe of Brant Lake; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
At his family’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled.
A private memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at the convenience of his family.

His family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the C. R. Wood Cancer Center, his second family at The Landing, staff at the Warren Center, and the nurses on Tower 3 who made our father’s last few days comfortable and loved.
