Obituary of Ruth E. Gibson

Warrensburg: Ruth E. Gibson, 78, of Main Street, passed away, Monday, August 28, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. Born May 21, 1928 in Sayville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Annabelle Long. While residing on Long Island, Ruth worked as a Supervisor with Long Island Lighting. She married James T. Gibson in 1970 and the couple moved to Warrensburg following their retirement. They owned and operated the White House Lodge Bed and Breakfast on Main Street for many years. Ruth was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s RC Church and a member of the Haskell Bros. Post 4821 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her favorite pastimes included helping her husband, restore and maintain his vintage automobile collection, a 1930 model A sports coup, a 1950 Willy Jeep and a 1917 Model T Touring car. Besides her parents, two sisters have also predeceased her. Survivors include her beloved husband of 37 years, James T. Gibson of Warrensburg; two sisters, Katherine of Sayville, Vera of Florida; several nieces and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Saturday at St. Cecilia’s RC Church, Main St., Warrensburg with the Rev. Paul Cox, officiating. Members of the VFW, Ladies Auxiliary will hold a brief service prior to the mass. Rite of committal will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery.
