Obituary of Mark Patrick Porter

North Creek: Mark “Patrick” Porter, 85, of Main St., passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 12, 2013, surrounded by his loving famliy at Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born March 17, 1928 in Raymond, WA, he was the son of the late Bernard G. and Winifred (Betty) Porter. Patrick grew up in Riverside, and was a graduate Pottersville Central School. Following High School, he attended Iowa State University before enlisting in the Unites States Navy, where he served his country in WWII, as well as the Korean Conflict. Pat married Betty “Ann” Porter on June 16, 1951 in North Creek; the couple has spent 62 blissful years together. He was a dedicated employee at Cibageigy in Glens Falls for many years, before his retirement in 1988. Pat was a longtime member of the North Creek Fire and Emergency Services, proudly serving his community for over 40 years. He was also a member of the North Creek American Legion Post 629. Besides his parents, Pat is predeceased by a brother, George Porter, and two sisters, Betty Clarke and Marie Margaret. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann of North Creek; their four sons, Michael Porter of Fairfax, UT, Kevin Porter and his wife, Debbie of Saratoga Springs, Hugh Porter of Winterport, ME, and Allen Porter and his wife, Ann of Rochester; a daughter, Loretta Lestrange and her husband, Edward of Brewster; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen King of Sun City, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Pat’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Friday, November 15, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating.
