Obituary of Irene E. Hall

Warrensburg: Irene E. Hall, 88, of Hudson Street passed away unexpectedly Monday, December 16, 2013, after being stricken at her home. Born February 3, 1925 in Thurman, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Mabel (Bunker) Baker. Following her graduation from Warrensburg Central School in 1942, she began her working years at the Warrensburg Shirt Factory. Irene married Simeon E. Hall on February 11, 1944; the couple owned and operated Hall’s Bait & Tackle Shop in Warrensburg for many years. They enjoyed 44 years of wedded bliss before his untimely passing on August 21, 1988. Irene also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for nearly 50 years at Evergreen Haven in Warrensburg and Westmount Health Care facility in Queensbury. Upon her retirement, she began providing private in-home care for the Hill family. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg, Sugarloaf Senior Citizens, and the John Thurman Historical Society. Irene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Besides spending time with her family, she enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening, camping with the kids, teaching Vacation Bible School, and various outings with her many friends and fellow senior citizens. Besides her parents and beloved husband, Irene was predeceased by a son, Simeon R. Hall; her siblings: Louella Whittaker, Wilbur Baker, Carl Baker, Floyd Baker, Carson Baker, and Leonard Baker. She is survived by a son, Ricci W. Hall and his wife, Paula of Oxford, MA, and a daughter, Linda L. Coston of Dorchester, MA; her brother Albert Baker of Athol; her companion, Rex Reynolds of Athol; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hall of Warrensburg; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson, Chase;. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as her extended church family. Friends may call on Irene’s family from 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, December 19, 2013 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 11 am, Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Burdett, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg. Friends are invited to call on Irene’s family one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place in the spring in Warrensburg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Irene’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg, 3850 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885.
