When I heard of this I was saddened for those family members and friends I was able to meet of Katie's and those I did not. I was lucky enough to be able to help care for Katie during her stay at the Glens Falls Hospital on floor 3WB. It was a pleasure to care for her. She always had a smile for me and we would turn up her music and she would dance in bed. She was a unique and loving person...I am sure she will be missed by all of those who were lucky enough also to have Katie in their lives. Now, she can watch over all who she cares for. I send my condolences to her close family members especially at this time of sorrow.

We were very saddened to hear about Katie. We knew she had struggled and fought courageously. We feel very fortunate to have known her. She was as upbeat as anyone we knew and had a great sense of humor - never a dull moment with her around!
We wish her family well knowing that she is now in peace.

Dear Aunt Katie,
I still remember the snowball fight as if it was yesterday, and when you taught us how to make Indian head-dresses on Thanksgiving. I still remember you reading to us. I was a lot smaller and younger, but you always treated all of us as equals. Even though I miss you, Grandpa and Aunt Mary-Beth may once again enjoy your company. On Earth, you were always thinking of all of us, but now I know you're happy because you can watch over all of us at once. Thank-you for always making me feel important.

Dear Ron, Logan and ALL of the Dear Places, You sure have had your share of loss in these past few years. I know Katie's passing was not unexpected, but it certainly does not make it any easier to bear. Ron, if I never knew what devotion was, I do now. You were a true companion to Katie. Logan, I wish you strength as you continue to mature and grow into the fine young man I know you will become. Nana, I know your heart is heavy but I also know that your faith and the rest of your loving family will help you through this. Sisters and Brothers, Pull together, as we big families do, and remember to enjoy each day to the fullest, for we never know what tomorrow will bring. I hope you all hold on to the wonderful memories of the vibrant Katie we all know and love. With love and sympathy, Gigi, Brian and Family

Dearest Jean, Ronny and to all your families,
We are so sorry to hear about Katie's passing. I remember when Ron and I would be invited to (crash) the Place's Christmas gatherings and we always felt welcomed and loved. Love was all around. I remember the Christmas party at Katie and Ronny's house. Those are the memories that will make me smile. The loving chaos of those gatherings that we felt so welcomed. I know the memories of those times will help ease the pain you are all feeling now, if just a little.
Please know that our sincere sympathy is with you all at this time.
Love always,
Dawn and Ron

My dearest Katie, For all the times we got together to share our stories, our tears, our joys and our smiles. I remember so vividly the very first time I saw you!! You looked liked me:) You were the first female other than myself that I met who had rombergs. I never saw a picture of you and yet I knew. There you were with the special kids you worked with. I went up to you and said "Katie"? Right there we bonded and our friendship began. It was my first time in Lake George. Our families met and we broke bread together. I know you drove down to the city to meet with me a few times too. You remember the ferry ride and the train to Annadale?? I'll miss our talks and mostly your radiant smile. But I know you will look down on us and keep watch. Especially the romberg folks. Love you and will miss you always, adele

A bright light is surely shining in heaven now and that is Katie. Of all the patients I have seen on T5, she is the one that touched me the most. She was such a courageous person. In the light of all she went through she maintained her sense of humor and made everyone else around her feel welcome and at ease. She will be truly be missed. May God bless her entire family.

God's Loving Promise
God hath not promised skies always blue,
Flower-strewn pathways all our lives through.
God hath not promised sun without rain,
Joy without sorrow, peace without pain.
God hath not promised that we shall not know
Toil and temptation, trouble and woe.
He hath not told us that we shall not bear
Many a burden, many a care.
But God hath promised strength for the day,
Rest for the laborer, light for the way,
Grace for the trails, help from above,
Unfailing sympathy, undying love.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Katie and her loved ones.
