Bolton Landing:
Ruth “Lynn” Gollhofer, 70, of Becker’s Drive, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Albany Medical Center, following complications from surgery.
Lynn, as she was known, was born January 13, 1945 in Valley Stream, Long Island. She was the eldest child of William and Ruth (Thompson) Wuest.
In 1961, Lynn met Paul J. Gollhofer while attending SUNY Farmingdale in Long Island; the couple later married September 10, 1966.
Lynn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a technical artistic drafter, para-psychologist and real estate broker for many years: working with Bell Point Realty, Lake George Homes and Lands, a partnership with Lonnie Lawrence at Leavitt Realty in Lake George and most recently partnered with her son working with Frank and Willie Bea McDonald Real Estate Professionals in Bolton Landing.
She loved to garden, travel, was a member of the local book club, a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and for the past 20 years served as a committee member for the Bolton Central School Senior Bacceloriate. She was constantly busy but her generous nature and warm smile was always there, ready to help.
Lynn was predeceased by a son, Richard J. Gollhofer, or “Rook” as he was affectionately known by his friends at the Bolton Fire Department, who went to the Lord at the age of 33.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Paul J. Gollhofer of Bolton Landing; a son, John P. Gollhofer, his wife, Lorie and her adored grandchildren, Kirsten and Max of Bolton Landing; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Skipper and her husband, Jimmy in Florida; a brother, William “Bill” Wuest and his wife, Denise in Pittsford, NY; her nieces, nephews and their children along with many lifelong friends we call family.
Friends may call on Lynn’s family from 1 to 3 pm, Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, March 30th at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 7 Goodman Ave., Bolton Landing with Fr. Paul Cox, officiating.
Rite of Committal will take place in the Bolton Rural Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Lynn’s memory to the Bolton Volunteer Fire Department, 5003 Lake Shore Drive, Bolton Landing for the Richard Gollhofer Scholarship Fund.
