Warrensburg – North Creek:
Kenneth Winfred Tracy, 89, formerly of Warrensburg and North Creek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Stanton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Queensbury.
Born October 21, 1917 in Pottersville, he was the son of the late Orson and Anna (Fish) Tracy.
Ken graduated from Pottersville High School in 1936. He worked in the North Creek area prior to his marriage to Evelyn Fish on June 22, 1940.
From 1940 until May of 1944, he was employed in Lake George and later at American Locomotive Co. in Schenectady.
In May of 1944, Ken enlisted in the US Marine Corp. He was a machinegun crewman with the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during WW II serving in Guam and Okinawa until his honorable discharge in March of 1946.
During their years of marriage, Evelyn and Kenneth traveled to different states and made their home in Las Vegas, Nevada, and then moved on to St. Petersburg, Florida, eventually moving back to the Adirondacks.
Prior to his retirement, Ken was employed with Barton Mines Corp. in North River for 30 years.
His favorite pastimes included golf, ping pong, trips to Saratoga race track, playing the Lottery and betting on his favorite baseball teams.
Friends and family will miss him dearly.
Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Evelyn, who passed on March 1, 2007 after 66 years together, his son, Gary Tracy, and a granddaughter, Kiela Tracy have also predeceased him.
Survivors include his sister, Golda Tucker of Glens Falls; his three children, and their families: daughter, Brenda Webster and her husband Wayne of Warrensburg, and their children; Cindy Rumble, David Webster, Linda Vaughan, and Jennifer Webster; son, Randy Tracy and his wife Karen of St. Mary’s, Georgia and his children, John, Thomas, and Kyle Tracy and her children, Brian and Eric; daughter, Debby Leigh, and her companion, Fred Hayes of North River, and her children, Stacie Ross, and Greg Leigh and his fiancé, Brook Russom; three great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his cat, Snoopy and many friends at White Water Manor in North Creek.
Friends may call on Ken’s family from 6-8 pm Friday at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc, 4479 State Rt. 28, North River.
North Creek American Legion Post 629 will conduct services at 7:30 pm Friday during the visitation at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 am Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Chester Rural cemetery, Chestertown.
