Warrensburg: Linda Alison Langworthy Apple, 68, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully following a courageous battle with cancer, Monday, October 29, 2018, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by members of her loving family. Born June 10, 1950, in Lansingburgh, Rensselaer County, New York, she was the daughter of the late Allison Mark Langworthy and Beatrice Ruth Connally. She was an All-Area All-State chorus singer, participated in the Girl Scouts, and graduated cum laude from Lansingburgh High School in 1968. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College Nursing School after receiving a scholarship as part of a pilot program to test whether those with cerebral palsy could qualify as nurses. Upon becoming a registered nurse (R.N.) she found employment at Leonard Hospital. She married Thomas Dow (Bushnell) Apple on October 2, 1971, in St. Augustine’s Church. After moving to Berne, Albany County, New York, in April 1980, the family relocated to her father’s hometown, Warrensburg, in October, 1984. Linda became a member of the St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church community, and served for many years as a liturgical reader and cantor. Even after her children graduated, she took an active role in the Warrensburg Town educational system to ensure the quality of education for other children in the school district. She was a voracious reader and frequented Richards Library, often borrowing up to 200 books a year. A lifelong fan of the New York Mets, she held passionate viewpoints about religion and politics, was completely devoted to family, friends, and her faith, and fiercely proud of her Irish heritage. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by two sons, Thomas Joseph Apple and Jared Phillip Apple. She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Thomas, of Warrensburg; eight children, Matthew T. (Etsuko Shimo) Apple of Japan, Marc E. Apple of Glens Falls, Alison L. (Eric) Beckhorn, of Elmira, Michael L. (Maria Gianfrancisco) Apple of Colonia, NJ, Christopher L. Apple of Harrisburg, PA, Jeffrey S. Apple, Jeremy J. Apple, and Andra Leigh R. (Jesse) Schuettinger of Warrensburg; brothers Laurence Langworthy and Alan (Patricia) Langworthy, grandchildren Delaney and Lars Beckhorn, Zachary and Kylee Apple, Erina and Emily Shimo Apple, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Linda’s family from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, November 1, 2018, at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Friday, at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main St., Warrensburg with Fr. Nellis Tremblay, officiating. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Hudson St., Warrensburg. Linda’s family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Glens Falls Hospital, especially to the oncology unit, and to the Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Glens Falls. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Cecilia’s Church or Richards Library in Linda’s memory.
