Obituary of Donald W. Fish

Schroon Lake: Donald W. Fish, 74, of Loch Mueller Rd., passed away, Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a short illness. Born April 25, 1932 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Vernis and Cordia (Combs) Fish. Don was a US Army veteran, who served in Germany during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge on December 16, 1953, he married his childhood sweetheart, Dorothy B. Monroe, two days later. The couple resided in Warrensburg and began to raise their family. They move to Schroon Lake in 1961 having more of their children while living there. Don was a self-employed lumberjack all his life and thoroughly enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and packing up his family for outings at Crane Pond. Besides his parents, his sister, Gloria Anderson, his uncle Vernon Fish and his aunt Helen Johnson have all predeceased him. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Dorothy B. Fish of Schroon Lake; his six daughters, Donna Mcgolthlin of Glens Falls, Darlene Haskell of New Bedford, MA, Dawn Hultgren and her husband, Rick of Minonk, Illinois, Dale Matheson and her husband, Jeff of Smith, NV, Jackie Hickey and her husband, Gil of Clarksburg, WVA, Kitty Roberts of Hobbs, NM; his son, Donald R. Fish and his wife, Marie of Schroon Lake; his brother, Vernis Fish of Warrensburg; 15 grandchildren, including a very special grandson, Travis Fish, who Don and Dorothy have been raising; nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in the Warrensburg Cemetery. Don requested there be no calling hour scheduled.
