Loren “Smokey” Burckard, 71, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully, Sunday January 12, 2014 in Ocala, FL, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born October 21, 1942.
Known as the band, “The Country Tradition”, Smokey and his wife, Bonnie Martin were well known for many years throughout the region for their music.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Morrison) Burckard of Dunnellon, FL; his four children, Richard Burckard, also Dunnellon, FL, Rebecca Jayne and her husband, Douglas, Regina Davis and her husband Steven, and Rhonda Kirsch and her husband, Chris, all of the Ocala, FL area; brother-in-laws, Terry Morrison and his wife, Sharon, and Michael Morrison, both of Warrensburg. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several extended family members.
At Smokey’s request there will be no calling hours or formal services held.
A “Jam Session” in celebration of his life will take place at the convenience of his family.
