Obituary of Nan P. Cocozza

Warrensburg/Saratoga Springs: Nan P. Cocozza, 84, formerly of Warrensburg and currently residing on Moore Ave., Saratoga Springs, passed away Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Saratoga Hospital. Born September 17, 1927 in Alexandria, Scotland, she was the daughter of the late David and Lucille (Taylor) Gall. Nan met her husband-to-be, Frank Cocozza in Glasgow and the couple wed on December 27, 1946. Nan worked with the forestry commission, planting trees in Argyllshire, Scotland. In 1952 the couple immigrated to the United States, settling in Nanuet. Shortly thereafter, they relocated to Warrensburg and raised their son, Tom in the North Country. Frank worked with his brothers, operating Scotty’s Motel in Lake George while Nan helped the family; she later retired from the Holiday Inn in Lake George. Nan enjoyed gardening, dogs, and wildlife in general. Besides her parents and beloved husband, Frank of 62 years, who passed away December 14, 2008, Nan was predeceased by her sister, Lucille Watters and brother, William Gall. She is survived by her son, Thomas Cocozza of Saratoga Springs. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, including Virginia Campbell, Leonore Ringer, and Maria Brown. Friends may call on Nan’s family from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, January 10th at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate Nan’s life will be conducted 11 am, Wednesday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan, Parish Life Director of St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Lake George. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Nan’s memory to Hospice or any local animal shelter.
