Estella G. Galusha, 89, of South Johnsburg Rd., passed away, Saturday, August 5, 2006, at the Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Born on September 17, 1916 in Loon Lake, she was the daughter of the late George and Augusta (Smith) VanGuilder.
Estella graduated from Pottersville High School. She married Leon Galusha on October 2, 1937. At the beginning of their marriage, the couple resided in Loon Lake and started raising their children in Olmstedville before spending the majority of their marriage on South Johnsburg Road in Johnsburg.
Her husband passed away on June 9, 1993 after 56 years together.
Estella was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Spending time with her family was everything to her. She enjoyed knitting socks and mittens and making quilts for her family.
She was a member of the Johnsburg United Methodist Church.
Besides her parents and husband, her son, Eugene W. Galusha; her brothers, Richard, Bill, Lester, Ray and Gerald VanGulider and her sister, Blanche Cleveland have all predeceased her.
Survivors include her five children, James Galusha and his wife, Norma of Thurman, Myrna Rhoades of Boca Raton, FL, Joseph Galusha of Johnsburg, Richard Galusha and his wife, Kathy of Warrensburg, Georgia Kenyon and her husband, Rick of Thurman; daughter in law, Norma Galusha of Johnsburg; 10 grandsons, four granddaughters, 19 great grandchildren; sisters in law, Ethel Tucker and Marie VanGuilder, both of North Creek, Beattie VanGuilder of Chestertown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services will be conducted 11 am Wednesday at the Bakers Mills Wesleyan Church with Pastor Dennis Jones officiating.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
