Obituary of James J. McCarty

Johnsburg: James Jermone “Jerry” McCarty, 76, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Creek. Born January 1, 1939 in Hollywood, FL, he was one of seven children born to the late Brooks and Mary Jane (Smith) McCarty. Besides spending time with his family, Jerry enjoyed tending to his birdfeeders, bird watching, as well as studying the abundance of wildlife the Adirondacks had to offer. Jerry also enjoyed using his computer, listening to country music, and car rides with his wife. He had a green thumb and spent much of his time caring for not only his plants, but assisting others as well. Jerry loved his Country and traveled throughout the majority of the United States during his service in the Air Force, taking up residency in many states, most recently, New York. Following his retirement from the armed forces, he was employed by Lincoln Logs as a Salesman for many years. In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by two brothers, Emerson and Edward McCarty, two sisters, Myrtle McCarty and Mildred Losey, a son, James Jermone McCarty, Jr., a daughter, Teresa Brehany and her husband, Shawn, and a step-daughter, Tammy Weatherwax. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Helen (Morehouse) McCarty; his children, Karyn (Dustin) Spring, Tom (Pam Wren) Weatherwax, George (Gloria Walls) Weatherwax, Lisa (David) Bateman; a brother, Guy (Donna) McCarty; a sister, Alice Mc’Leroy. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Jerry’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. A committal service with military honors will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Gerald B. H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
